Project Description

This modernization project involves upgrades to elevators, lighting, electrical, and storefront systems at the Penn North Metro Station in Baltimore, which has been serving commuters since 1983. The primary focus of this contract is to replace the station’s two existing hydraulic elevators that bring passengers from the street level to the ticketing level, and then down to the platform. This work involves constructing new elevator cabs, replacing controllers, hydraulic pumps, one of the existing hydraulic cylinders, and other supporting work. Included in this contract is the demolition of defunct lighting fixtures throughout the station, and replacement of some current lights with new LED fixtures. New architectural storefront systems will be installed at both entrance headhouses into the station. These storefronts will replace the existing metal gates with glass panels and a custom stainless steel glass railing system.
