Project Description
The Multi-Modal Transit Facility (MMTF) is a multi-phased, LEED Silver, 14acre whole site development and commercial building project for the town of Blacksburg VA. Site work integrates the new MMTF building, two bus circulation loops, bus shelter areas and reconfiguration of Stanger St. at the north end of Virginia Tech campus. Project includes a two story 13,450 sqft Va. Tech Gothic style structure on a grade beam system supported by auger cast piles. Building features Hokie stone veneer, architectural precast concrete, cast stone and ornamental entrances, high performance curtain wall systems. Site features include numerous pedestrian walkways, site seating and gathering areas. These areas incorporate cast in place concrete walks, Hokie stone feature walls, unit pavers and cobble stone accents. The site also required chill water and steam piping rework, extensive storm water management including bio-retention areas.
