Project Description
This major infrastructure and streetscape project involved the construction of a transitway and several high-quality bus stops in the Crystal City and Potomac Yard areas of Arlington, Virginia.
The project constructed the Washington region’s first Bus Rapid Transit roadways which opened in April 2016. Busses can now use this dedicated roadways to bypass congestion in the heavily travelled Crystal Drive and Clark Street corridors of Arlington.
Work was completed in phases. There was extensive maintenance of traffic work throughout this challenging project.
Major trades included earthwork, erosion controls, and utilities, including water, sewer and storm drains. The streetscape work was comprised of pavement marking, site concrete, pavers, asphalt, brick sidewalks, landscaping, and signage for bus stops and vehicle traffic.
