Project Description
WM Schlosser was awarded this project in March 2026 to construct a new Unit Substation that will provide power to the sedimentation basins, filters, chemical systems, communication systems, process control systems, HVAC systems, and various other plant facilities.
The site work includes excavation, installation of new electrical ductbanks, chemical ductbanks, manholes, and relocation of existing chemical piping.
The project also includes construction of a concrete foundation pad to support the new outdoor Unit Substation (USS-1), along with structural ramps and stairs to provide access to the USS-1 enclosure.
Electrical improvements include the installation of a new double-ended outdoor USS-1, complete with new primary load switches, transformers, and switchgear, configured for main-tie-main distribution.
New electrical manholes and ductbanks will be installed in association with USS-1 to provide power and control connections to new equipment, as well as to reroute power and controls to equipment currently served by the existing USS-1.
Following installation of the new equipment, existing wires and cables in underground ductbanks and exposed raceways, boxes, and fittings will be replaced to facilitate power transfer. During the power switchover process, temporary independent power will be provided to maintain operation of select existing equipment during load cutover.
Upon completion and commissioning of the new USS-1, the existing USS-1 will be demolished and decommissioned.
